Our demo programs are, of course, an excellent way to get a real feel for the software…how they work, what they can do, what they look like. All the programs can be downloaded at no charge — currently you will have to use a "zip" program to un-zip them, although we are soon going to make them automatic,

They differ from each other in a number of respects —

AGE/CON and PERDEC… are for making optimum replacement decisions for the organization's assets. AGE/CON is designed for the replacement of vehicles, and PERDEC is designed for the replacement of plant equipment and machinery. The software packages are identical to one another, except that some of the "vocabulary" in AGE/CON refers to "vehicles", "distance" and so on, while the words in PERDEC refer to machines or "equipment".

Data for the asset’s entire history would be entered in the "real" versions. In the demo versions, however, you are limited to 4 years of historical data. Similarly, in the real programs you would enter estimates of resale values, while on the demo versions, the resale values are automatically calculated as percentages of the acquisition costs.

Otherwise, they work exactly like the real versions. When you enter data, you will, in fact, get the real recommended optimal replacement times for the asset, based upon your own input.

In the download, the write-up you should print out to guide you through the program will be found on the writeup.doc file. It has been created on Microsoft WORD, Office 97 version.

RELCODE
…is a program for the determination of the best replacement intervals for component parts — it recommends the optimal times, in other words, for preventive maintenance.

There are two demos for RELCODE.

One, we call the Walk-Through Demo is not a working version, but is like a "slide show". Dr. Hastings, the author has done a very thorough job of showing you all the features of RELCODE, and thus you do not require a write-up or promotional brochure beyond the demo itself.

The other, we call Working Demo, is the real program with some built in limitations. The limitations pertain only to the number of failure and suspension observations that can be entered, and to a ratio for the cost of a preventive replacement versus the cost of a failure-in-use replacement. Otherwise it works like the non-demo, real product.

EXAKT: The CBM Optimizer
…is in a different league than the others. It’s a much bigger program, and it’s designed to use condition-monitoring data, along with age-related experience, and some financial input to recommend that you continue running your component or assembly until the next inspection, to take it out of service immediately, or to monitor it extra-carefully because of its incipient failure.

The EXAKT demo is in the form of a PDF (Adobe Acrobat) file, and is a "Walkthrough" Demo. That is, it contains text explanations along with screen images to lead you, one-step-at-a-time thought the entire program. Not only that, but the data used is from a real-life application which clearly shows the results of applying EXAKT's decision powers to a major replacement problem.
